Architectural Jewels of the Prairie

Welcome!

This guide provides information about the architecture of Grinnell. Research for this guide was conducted by students in Fredo Rivera’s modern and contemporary architectural history courses, who wrote papers about local buildings. For their exploration of Grinnell’s architecture, students wrote exterior and interior analyses of their respective building and then conducted research at Drake Community Library and Grinnell College Libraries. This online resource reflects an attempt to make such student work public facing, by gathering individual undergraduate research and visual analysis into a publicly accessible format.

Please feel free to peruse our architectural guide, and we suggest using it to explore or tour Grinnell in person. We hope you enjoy the guide and find it informative! This is an active guide that will be amended as more architecture courses are taught at Grinnell. Any feedback may be sent to riveraal@grinnell.edu
